Resources of Hope 2023v1_1200

Resources of Hope, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization is dedicated to supporting foster and kinship families in Johnson County and across the state of Indiana.

Indiana ranks 7th in the United States for teh number of children in foster care, with over 20,000 children navigating teh foster system each year.

At Resources of Hope, we are committed to making a postive impact in the lives of these children while providing tangible and emotional support to foster/kinship families.

Our Clothing Closet, in particular, serves as a critical resource for foster families, providing clothing, shoes, and essential items to an average of 70 foster children each month. This program ensures that children entering foster care have access to the basic necessities they need to feel comfortable and cared for during a challenging time in their lives.

Clothing Closet: More times than not, when a youth enters into foster care they come to their foster family with just the clothes on their back. Many situations prevent children from bringing clothes, toys, stuffed animals, blankets or any other "comfort" items to a new foster home. The Clothing Closet at Resources of Hope is vital in helping children feel loved while easing the burden of this initial impact to the foster family.

Foster Parent Trainings: We know the challenges of finding available and applicable training. We’re very excited to be able to offer this program. Each month we will be offering a new and valuable training that can help in your foster journey.

Birthday Blessings: This program is meant to help you in providing an additional gift for your littles on their special day. Birthdays can be a difficult time for children in care and we want to join you in making your foster loves birthday special.

Foster and Kinship Care Support Group: We invite you to join us to UNITE. Our goal is to connect you with supportive people, help encourage relationships and walk alongside your foster/kinship journey.

Teen Connect: A monthly collaboration of foster youth and adult volunteers. We meet together in a relaxed environment for fun, and fellowship. The goal of Teen Connect is inspiration, personal advancement and empowerment. We believe that these goals can be achieved through engaging activities and relationships with others in a positive atmosphere.

Community Outreach Events: 50% of foster parents "retire" after their first year or first placement. Why? So many times it is because they don't feel supported. It is our hope that through our events, we show foster families that they are not alone.  Through supporting the family as a whole, our hope is they can continue providing for the foster children in their care longer, providing stability and reducing the need for a child to move between foster homes.
